Hi, Joe Gannon here, editor of The Wild Today. I'd like to make a personal appeal to the all our readers, people we consider to be members of the Wild Geese community. I’m sure when most people come to our website they can see that a good deal of work, of our time and effort, has gone into creating it. We know that people recognize that, because literally hundreds of them have taken the time to email us from the site to let us know. As our site has become more extensive, as it has become better, it has also become more expensive to maintain. For some time we were able to find ways to make enough cash through site to keep it self-sufficient. Recently those have dried up and we More than merely recognizing our hard work, however, most have also recognized and praised our efforts to bring to life the history of our people for the millions in the Irish Diaspora who hunger for the information but have not been able to find it. now face the prospect of not only spending our time on this labor of love, which we do willingly, but also having it become a drain on our own finances.
We love what we do here; we love that it has brought together a community of people who care deeply about the history of our people. Now we would ask this community to show Gerry and I that our hard work and dedication to this cause we love so well has not gone unnoticed by our readers. Millions of people support entertainment and information entities such as public television and radio with voluntary contributions every year to keep those worthwhile enterprises afloat. We firmly believe those of us who love Irish history can, and will, band together to do the same thing. We have no desire to, and will not, convert "The Wild Geese Today" into a password protected subscription emag. While we might or might not achieve self-sufficiency that way, the bottom line is that it would destroy the very thing we started out to do here, which is to openly disseminate the history of our people to the widest possible audience. Won’t you join with us in this continuing effort? Please help us show the world that the spirit of the Wild Geese still lives in all of us by making a donation, large or small, at the page that Amazon.com as set up for us and together we will continue to "fly the flag of Erin" for all to see. Take a moment to scan a few of the messages readers have sent us, below. Then, if you are one of the people who feels as they do, help us tell the world that we ARE the Wild Geese, and we are still here by clicking on this link:
